In addition to individual counselling, she has delivered various group programs. These include delivering violence intervention programs, social anxiety support groups, mindfulness wellbeing groups, and eating disorders support groups. She has worked as a Psychology tutor at universities and has been involved in conducting various large-scale research programs. Her doctoral research involved developing a creative arts program and evaluating its effects on mothers of children with disabilities.
Debbie’s approach is highly individualised, supportive, and empathic. She is committed to developing a strong therapeutic relationship with individuals based on trust and understanding. Debbie believes that everyone has the capacity to be more in tune with their values and goals, and become less swayed by self-limiting thoughts and beliefs. She believes that counselling offers a safe space to cultivate greater self-acceptance and nurture positive change. Debbie views counselling as a place to receive compassionate support as well as learn and develop practical psychological strategies and skills for dealing with difficulties. It can be an opportunity to nurture strengths and more fully embrace being human.
Debbie is enthusiastic about joining the team at DSA Psychologists. She is available all day on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Debbie currently has general registration for Medicare purposes but has her application in for her specialist registration and we expect it to be approved in the next couple of months.
