Prior to becoming a registered psychologist, Heather had a history of employment as a senior educator and administrator within the Victorian independent school system. Following a desire to change career direction, she completed an undergraduate degree in psychology. Heather then went on to graduate from Monash University with a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, and Swinburne University with a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. She is a Member of the APS College of Counselling Psychologists. Heather has also completed her hypnosis training, and is an Associate Member of the Australian Society of Hypnosis
Heather uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy to assist clients. She also uses psychological testing when appropriate, to help clients understand and address a variety of psychological concerns.
Heather’s doctoral focus was in the area of relationships and problems that can be experienced in relationships. She is particularly interested in working with adults and adolescents with relationship problems. Also, Heather is experienced in assisting people with problems including anxiety and/or depression, problematic sleep patterns, and psychological trauma. She is also able to assist clients with study problems, work related stress, and those who need career advice.
