Samantha is a clinical psychologist who completed a doctoral degree in Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Melbourne. She has also worked as a primary and secondary school teacher prior to completing her doctorate.
Samantha has experience working with children and their families in clinical, hospital and school settings, which has involved the assessment of intellectual ability and childhood mental health disorders, as well as provision of individual therapy. She has worked closely with teachers, speech pathologists and other health professionals, providing both consultation and professional development.
Samantha incorporates the principles of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) in providing individual counselling to children and utilises a family-systems approach. Her specific areas of interest include assessment of children, and working with children and their families towards better outcomes.
Samantha recognises the importance of involving parents in the therapeutic process and also believes that it is important to enable children to identify and celebrate their strengths during this process.
Samantha is available for appointments at our Ringwood rooms on Wednesdays. She is a Specialist Clinical Psychologist for the purposes of Medicare rebates.
